What Is the HIV Testing Window Period?
The testing window period refers to the time between potential HIV exposure and when the infection can be reliably detected. Results may vary depending on how long after exposure the test is taken.
Testing timeline reference:
- 2 weeks: Preliminary screening; some individuals may test positive.
- 4 weeks: High probability of exclusion (approximately 98%).
- 8 weeks: Generally considered reliable; no confirmed cases of later conversion.
- 12 weeks: Follow-up testing; negative results are considered conclusive.
HIV is a chronic condition. Most individuals experience a window period of approximately 3–6 weeks, during which regular testing is recommended.
Possible Early Symptoms of HIV Infection
Some individuals may experience symptoms during the acute infection stage, while others may remain asymptomatic.
- Persistent fever
- Diarrhea (three or more watery stools per day)
- Skin rash or red blotches on limbs or trunk
Please note:
The absence of symptoms does not rule out infection. Testing is strongly recommended after any high-risk exposure.
Regulatory Registration
This HIV 1/2 antibody rapid test kit is officially registered with national medical regulatory authorities and manufactured in compliance with applicable quality standards.
